Just like any other gamer out there, I frequent the gaming info sites; IGN and Gamespot mostly. I guess there are others out there but for the most part those are the mainstream guys. They have people that only review or cover certain genres or titles, have departments with different staff for each of the game consoles, and then branches in each country for coverage of different regions.
Everyday I hit up my iGoogle home page’s RSS widgets and check out any of that day’s reviews. Even if it’s a game I’ve never heard of, I’ll check out the article. I even share these articles with coworkers and colleagues. A lot of times there will be games that come out of nowhere for me and I end up really admiring the way they look, only to be get quickly turned off by the critic’s opinion, making that game have little to no chance of ever being within five feet of me unless it’s next to a game I want on a store shelf.
Had to make the switch today from the Saturn to my 360 to record some ideas I had for GTA IV.
Niko & Kate – So happy together
I found out late last night from Tor that there is this swingset in Broker that is glitchy. After messing with it for about three hours at 2 in the morning I kinda started to think there is something about it that was purposely put there. Either way, the Firefly Projects’ playground has a new meaning. This is a short about Niko’s dying love for Kate, so much so that he….literally wants to die with her…I guess.
Damn, another CD label already?? Yup. This one is for MegaMan X4 for the Sega Saturn again. I think I enjoyed doing this one a little more, and I’m happier with the result. It shows the characters from the game more, and there was a lot more customization. Enjoy!
I wanted to mention the level of customization here, as most of the time you’ll be hard pressed to find images of this kind of stuff on the web. You’d think it’d be the other way around, but quite the contrary, it isn’t… Here is the old logo and the one I made myself, respectively, using the old as a template of course. Yeah… that ESRB logo is mine too… 😉
For any backup copies of MegaMan 8 for Sega Saturn out there that need a label, look no further!
I took a couple hours today and the day before to make a disc label for the game to burn on these cool new color Lightscribe discs. Of course I threw it on a blue one, and it looks awesome!
After a good half hour blow-job with margarita-ridden breath I finally got the SNES working. Some combination of me switching out the A/V cables, playing with the power cord, and cartridge friction action finally got me a picture on screen. It worked about 50% of the time, but that 50% got me far enough into Super Metroid‘s Norfair until the screen suddenly went blank. 🙁 And of course, since I don’t usually save in the game (because it takes no time at all for me to actually beat it) I’ll have to give it another go some other time.
Anyway, Nintendo’s masterpiece console will soon be a fully functioning member of the family!
Went with Torie and Ted to the Sanford Flea Market on Sunday in search of some retro action. I’d hoped to find some rare Sega Saturn games, maybe some SNES collectibles, but hadn’t really even thought about what I’d purchased. The good fellas at Game Trader had a mint condition Model 2 Super NES; I couldn’t resist. I’ve had the traditional console since it was around in the early 90s, but was always fascinated by the sleek miniature design of the Model 2. The only problem is that I think the A/C adapter is bad, because the console doesn’t come on. I’ve tried it with the original model and it does the same: sends a signal to the screen but I guess not enough of one to actually play anything.
Along with the console, I managed to snag a bundle deal on a few games. I’ve not played an actual SNES console in ages as most of this stuff is easy available via emulation. But there really is nothing like playing this stuff with the original controller. Better yet, an ASCIIWare controller!
Who takes multimillion dollar hardware and software apps and says, “Hey, let’s make it so we can play video games on it!”? People like me do, that’s who. I think the more appropriate question here is, “Who takes multimillion dollar hardware and software apps capable making some of the most interactive video games on the market and applies Missile Command to them?”
Spaghetti Oh likes video games, cool movies, sweet rides, and awesome music. If you like these things too, you should rejoice with him. More »
